Keywords: Multiasset options Option sensitivities or Greeks Malliavin calculus Monte Carlo and quasi-Monte Carlo methods a b s t r a c t This paper discusses simulation of sensitivities or Greeks of multiasset European and Asian style options by Malliavin calculus combined with Monte Carlo and quasi-Monte Carlo methods. By using the Malliavin calculus, we are able to express Greeks of both European and Asian style multiasset options explicitly in terms of the expectations of the option payoff functions multiplied by the Malliavin weights. For European multiasset options, these expectations are further converted to integrals over hypercubes in order to make use the better uniformity of low discrepancy sequences. Numerical results show the advantages of Malliavin calculus method to the finite difference method for options with nonsmooth payoffs. The superiority of the first method over the second one is even more significant when these methods are combined with quasi-Monte Carlo methods. For example, when simulating D 1 of a basket binary option or a basket ''double'' binary option, the efficiencies reach up to tens of thousands with good lattice points sequences; and the efficiencies are up to tens of millions or higher with the same type of sequences when simulating C 11 or C 12 for the same type of options.

Malliavin Calculus applied to Finance

In this article, we give a brief informal introduction to Malliavin Calculus for newcomers. We apply these ideas to the simulation of Greeks in Finance. First to European-type options where formulas can be computed explicitly and therefore can serve as testing ground. Later we study the case of Asian options where close formulas are not available, and we also open the view for including more ex...

Applications of Malliavin calculus to Monte-Carlo methods in finance. II

This paper is the sequel of Part I [1], where we showed how to use the so-called Malliavin calculus in order to devise efficient Monte-Carlo (numerical) methods for Finance. First, we return to the formulas developed in [1] concerning the “greeks” used in European options, and we answer to the question of optimal weight functional in the sense of minimal variance. Then, we investigate the use o...

Multidimensional quasi-Monte Carlo Malliavin Greeks

The aim of this paper is extensively investigate the performance of the estimators for the Greeks of multidimensional complex path-dependent options obtained by the aid of Malliavin Calculus. The study analyses both the computation effort and the variance reduction in the Quasi-Monte Carlo simulation framework. For this purpose, we adopt the approach employed by Montero and Kohatsu-Higa to the ...

Application of Monte Carlo Simulation in the Assessment of European Call Options

In this paper, the pricing of a European call option on the underlying asset is performed by using a Monte Carlo method, one of the powerful simulation methods, where the price development of the asset is simulated and value of the claim is computed in terms of an expected value. The proposed approach, applied in Monte Carlo simulation, is based on the Black-Scholes equation which generally def...

Pricing and Hedging Asian Basket Options with Quasi-Monte Carlo Simulations

In this article we consider the problem of pricing and hedging high-dimensional Asian basket options by Quasi-Monte Carlo simulation. We assume a Black-Scholes market with time-dependent volatilities and show how to compute the deltas by the aid of the Malliavin Calculus, extending the procedure employed by Montero and Kohatsu-Higa [1]. Efficient path-generation algorithms, such as Linear Trans...
